Terms of use

These terms apply to your use of Fancy Text Styles at fancytextstyles.com, including its text tools and guides. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. They are written to be read, so they are short and specific.

Using the tools

The tools convert text you type into other Unicode characters, help you copy blank characters, and help you format Discord messages. You may use them, and the text they produce, for any lawful personal or commercial purpose, free of charge and without attribution. The characters themselves are part of the Unicode Standard and belong to no one; the output is yours to use.

You are responsible for what you create and where you paste it. Do not use the tools to impersonate other people or organizations, to evade a platform’s moderation or filters, to harass anyone, or to make text deliberately unreadable in places where others rely on reading it. Heavy “glitch” text in particular can disrupt the layout of shared spaces such as group chats and comment sections.

Platform rules come first

Apps and websites set their own rules about names, usernames and messages, and those rules can change without notice. A style that a platform accepts today may be rejected, filtered or changed tomorrow. Our guides describe what platforms document at the time of writing, with the date and source; they are not a promise that a platform will accept a given character. Using styled text in a way a platform forbids is between you and that platform. Fancy Text Styles is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Discord, Instagram, TikTok, X, Roblox or any other service mentioned, and their names are used only to describe where text is pasted.

Accuracy of the guides

We check every character against the Unicode code charts and every platform rule against the platform’s own documentation, and we publish our display measurements with their method, date and limits. See our editorial process. Even so, how text looks depends on the fonts and software of the device reading it, which we do not control and have not all measured. The guides are provided for general information, and you should not rely on styled text for anything where a display failure would cause harm, such as safety instructions, legal notices or essential contact details.

Accessibility of styled text

Styled Unicode characters can be read poorly by screen readers and other assistive technology. Our guides explain this and recommend real formatting where it exists. When you publish styled text, you are responsible for whether it is accessible to your audience.

Intellectual property

The text, page design, logo, diagrams, measurement tables and code of Fancy Text Styles are our work and protected by copyright, except where a page credits another source. You may quote short passages with a link back to the page. You may not copy whole pages or republish the site’s content as your own. The logo mark is drawn from a glyph of STIX Two Math, which is licensed under the SIL Open Font License 1.1. Trademarks of the platforms mentioned belong to their owners.

Acceptable use of the site

• Do not attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorized access to the site or its hosting.
• Do not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other visitors.
• Do not use the site to distribute malware or unlawful content, including through shared-result links.

Advertising and links

The site may show advertising and links to other websites, such as the Unicode Consortium, W3C and platform help centers. We are not responsible for the content or practices of other sites, and an advertisement is not an endorsement. How advertising uses cookies is explained in our privacy policy.

No warranty, and limits of liability

The site and its tools are provided free, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, Fancy Text Styles and its editor are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or of text produced with it, including a platform rejecting, altering or removing text you posted. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes
